What's new from the Team at WWSTA

WWSTA INAUGURAL CONFERENCE 2008: The 2008 Inaugural WWSTA conference was held on Saturday 20 September 2008 at the Holiday Inn in Wellington. The delegates report a very successful event and much was learned from the excellent keynote address presented by Lester Flockton, Emeritus Professor of Education from Otago University - "Implementation of the New Curriculum". The delegates split into three groups to discuss some of the issues raised. He also presided over and provided an excellent summary of the report back session.

After lunch representatives from four political parties (Act, Labour, National and United Future) bravely subjected themselves to close questioning from the floor. I have no doubt that they will take back to their respective organisations some clear indications regarding the issues facing school boards today.

The session was very ably chaired by Dennis Welch freelance author, previous deputy editor of the Listener, political columnist and poet. Summing up the session, Denis commented on the quality of the questions asked. Dennis also acted as rapporteur and closed the day with a very humourous round up of the event, some very important items of late breaking news and insights into where to from here.

A completely statistically inaccurate exit poll of a very random selection of delegates voted the event a huge success.
